Tornado injures 4 in Misamis Occidental; floods, landslides hit other areas

Four residents of Tudela, Misamis Occidental were injured by a tornado on Thursday, according to Tina Panganiban-Perez’s report on “24 Oras.”

The tornado also wrecked 64 houses in the barangays of Basirang, Sebac, Centro Upper, and Centro Napu while several trees and plantations were damaged.

Meanwhile, several houses in a subdivision in Makilala, Cotabato were also submerged in flood water. Residents of the area said this was the usual occurrence during strong rains.

Kidapawan City also experienced strong rains due to thunderstorms.

The public market of Antipas, Cotabato also experienced flooding due to a torrent of rain which lasted almost an hour.

Rains also caused a landslide over a portion of Bontoc, Baguio in Sabangan, Mountain Province. This left drivers with only one lane to use.

The landslides also affected a hanging bridge in the area as well as the road connected to it.

The Department of Public Works and Highways have filled the destroyed portion with land and placed warning signs for the safety of passing drivers. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
