Parts of Antipolo to be placed under 7-day lockdown starting July 27

Some areas of Antipolo, Rizal will be placed under a seven-day lockdown beginning Monday, July 27, as part of measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Antipolo City Mayor Andrea Ynares announced on Facebook on Saturday that the following areas will be placed under lockdown on Monday:

  • Sitio Upper Ruhat 3A, Brgy. Mambugan
  • 1st Street in Sitio Oreta, Brgy. San Isidro
  • Sitio Kamandag 3 at the boundary of Barangays Bagong Nayon and Mayamot
  • Zapanta Compound in Brgy. San Roque
  • portion of Sitio Tubigan, Brgy. Dalig

Ynares said residents will not be allowed to leave their homes except if they are frontliners, have medical emergencies, or are authorized persons outside residence (APOR) such as those allowed to work in industries given permission to operate under general community quarantine (GCQ). Rizal is under GCQ until July 31.

Also allowed to go out of their homes are those needing to buy essential goods — but only one member per family, Ynares said.

The local government, however, will distribute food packs twice a week, the mayor said.

During the lockdown, COVID-19 testing will be conducted in the above-mentioned areas, especially among those with symptoms and those who are considered vulnerable to the disease such as senior citizens, pregnant, and those who have comorbidities.

"Inaasahan ang kooperasyon at disiplina ng mga mamamayan upang masiguro ang tagumpay ng ating isasagawang ECQ para sa inyong sariling kaligtasan," Ynares said.

The mayor also said the lockdown previously imposed on portions of Barangays Bagong Nayon, Sta. Cruz, San Jose, San Luis and Cupang has already ended.

As of Friday night, Antipolo City registered 565 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 300 have recovered while 48 died.
