Pangolin and its child found in Puerto Princesa corn field

A pangolin and its young child were found in a corn field in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, on Monday.

A man from Barangay Luzviminda carefully took the animals and surrendered them to the care of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD).

Resident Antonio Cuino said he feared that there might be individuals who planned to capture the endangered animals for money.

Since he started living there in 2004, Cuino said he had seen several pangolins in the area.

Illegal pangolin meat is considered a delicacy in Southeast Asia. Their scales are also believed to have medicinal properties. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
