Camarines Norte records first COVID-19 case, total number in Bicol now at 61
The Department of Health Center for Health Development in the Bicol Region on Monday reported the first case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Camarines Norte and a new case in Camarines Sur, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the region to 61.
The first confirmed case in Camarines Norte is a 45-year-old male from Labo town. He first experienced flu-like symptoms last April 27 and he consulted at Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital on May 4 where he is presently admitted.
The DOH Region V said the patient's history of exposure is still being determined.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old male is the newest case from Tigaon, Camarines Sur. Health officials said his onset of illness was on March 26 and he had medical consultation last May 5.
His history of exposure is still being established, the DOH Region V said.
Due to these developments, the DOH Region V urged the public to strictly follow community quarantine procedures as well as precautionary measures including proper handwashing, social distancing, cough etiquette, disinfection of commonly-used objects, healthy lifestyle as well as staying at home. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
