Shoppers in Naga City wait in long lines for mall's reopening on Day 1 of GCQ

Shoppers in Naga City, Camarines Sur waited in long lines for the reopening of a mall on the first day of the general community quarantine.

According to Ivan Mayrina's report for "24 Oras," residents flocked to the mall even before the mall's opening hours.

Vivian Rodrigues, a teacher who was among the shoppers, admitted that she's still scared of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) despite the easing of quarantine measures.

"May mga COVID-19 positive sa Naga city so kailangan natin may social distancing, wear your face mask and bring alcohol," she said.

To protect the mall goers, the mall ensued a "no mask, no entry" policy and set up a body temperature check for people before going in.

The mall also said that they already expected the large crowd so they disinfected the entire building before reopening.

Aside from groceries and barber shops, the mall also allowed restaurants to reopen as long as they would offer only takeout or delivery orders.

As of April 22, the Bicol region has 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
