7-year-old patient in Zamboanga del Sur tests negative for COVID-19

The seven-year-old patient from Dumalinao in Zamboanga del Sur has tested negative for the virus that causes coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

Dr. Anatalio Cagampang, Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center chief, said the patient underwent two swab tests while confined in an isolation area at the Zamboanga Del Sur Medical Center.

The results of the tests were released on Monday evening.

The child's mother, who was with the patient at the hospital, also tested negative for the virus.

The child was discharged on Tuesday morning and are now starting their 14-day quarantine in their house.

The seven-year-old is the third COVID-19 patient who has tested negative for the virus.

The first two patients were from Pagadian City and the town of Labangan, who were discharged after they tested negative for the virus.

COVID-19 Task Torce Zamboanga Del Sur spokesperson Dr. Robert Capatoy said there are still persons under monitoring in the province and persons under investigation confined in different hospitals.

“Ang pag-negative sa tatlong COVID patient natin, hindi nangangahulugang negative COVID free na ang Zamboanga Del Sur,” said Capatoy.

He underscored that the province is still under enhanced community quarantine, which was ordered by Governor Victor Yu.

“The best solution pa rin is stay at home muna ngayon.Lahat ng ito na enhanced quarantine ginawa natin para sa atin to lahat," said Zamboanga Del Sur Governor Victor Yu. -- BAP, GMA News
