Aklan extends enhanced community quarantine until April 30 -governor

The enhanced community quarantine in the province of Aklan was extended until April 30, its governor said Friday.

Governor Florencio Miraflores has signed Executive Order No. 21 which extends until 11:59 p.m., April 30, the travel restrictions on persons under Executive Order No. 19, series of 2020, and the enhanced community quarantine in the entire province under Executive Order No. 20, series of 2020.

The local government of Aklan decided to extend the strict quarantine in order to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province.

Miraflores said the order would take effect immediately.

"All enforcement agencies are hereby called upon to continue the implementation of laws, memoranda orders and/or issuances promulgated by proper authorities," Miraflores said.

As of April 9, Aklan has recorded six confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the Department of Health-Western Visayas. Of the number, five are still admitted at the hospital and one is in home quarantine.

Earlier this week, the national government already extended the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to control the spread of the virus in other places.
