Pagadian City market 'suits up' against COVID-19
At the first alarm signal, Pagadian City Public Market vendors came up with a way to protect themselves, as well as their customers, from the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Shortly after Zamboanga Del Sur Governor Victor Yu confirmed the first COVID-19 case in the province, vendors began covering their stalls with cellophane sheets.
While some market-goers complained the cellophane covers have barred them from holding and picking the fish or meat cut they want to buy, most of the customers have thrown support for the vendors' innovation, a report said.
According to the report, the immediate result of the vendors' initiative was impressive. The usually wet and stinky market floor in the fish and meat sections have become dry as the plastic covers stopped excess water from spilling over. —with a report from Aude Hampong/LBG, GMA News
