Zamboanga issues suspension of land, sea, air travel to city
Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco ordered the suspension of all land, sea, and air transport to the city due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Under Executive Order no. BC 552, Climaco suspended all travel into the city effective on Monday, March 16 until futher notice.
However, Climaco clarified that this will not affect the movement of goods, supplies, and outgoing passenger trips.
"All passenger vessels except cargo ships, especially coming from Malaysia are prohibited in the Zamboanga City seaport and finger wharves," the order read.
Though vessel were allowed to unload their cargo , officers and crew were prohibited from disembarking from March 15 to April 15.
"All non-conventional vessels are strictly prohibited from docking and unloading their passengers and cargos in all seaports, wharves, and other points of entry in the city," it added.
Climaco also cancelled public and private mass gatherings, jail visitations except for food deliveries which would be limited to the gate, as well as beach and resort recreation visits. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
