Critically endangered juvenile Philippine Eagle spotted in Mt. Apo
A critically endangered juvenile Philippine Eagle was spotted perched on a tree in the forests of Mt. Apo, Davao del Sur.
According to Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF)'s Facebook post on Wednesday, the rare iconic eagle, estimated to be around a year old, was found through the efforts of forest guards.
The foundation wrote, "Great news! Another juvenile Philippine Eagle was discovered recently in the forests of Mt. Apo!"
The Philippine Eagle can only be seen in Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao, said PEF.
Despite being declared as the country's national bird, it's already listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
With only 400 pairs left in the wild, the PEF urged the public to help them save the birds by donating to their fundraising campaign. —Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
