Tourism in Tagaytay down by 70% after Taal eruption —local official
The number of tourists visiting Tagaytay City has dropped by 70 percent following the phreatic eruption of the Taal Volcano on Sunday afternoon, a local official has said.
Tagaytay City Tourism Officer Jelanne Mendoza advised the public against visiting the popular tourist destination as the local government is still conducting road clearing operations.
Many parts of the city have been blanketed in ash following the eruption.
“We suggest wag muna umakyat ng Tagaytay for security reason dahil as of now the local government is clearing the roads para safety ng travelers sa Tagaytay,” she said.
A group of friends was also stranded in the city on Sunday night after a blackout rendered their navigating devices unusable.
