Taal Volcano unrest affects Tagaytay City businesses

Several business establishments in Tagaytay City were affected following Taal Volcano's phreatic eruption on Sunday, according to Sandra Aguinaldo's Monday report on 24 Oras.

There was a huge drop in the number of tourists and visitors in Tagaytay City, which prompted hotels, restaurants, and amusement parks to temporarily close.

Some establishments had also experienced power outages.

Only a few stores were opened for business at the Mahogany Market due to the drop in tourists compared to an ordinary Monday.

Nevertheless, some establishments that had their own power generators and water sources did open their doors to customers.

Leslie Paelmo, owner of Leslie's Restaurant, explained that they were open despite the situation with the Taal Volcano.

"Napilitan po kami na magbukas ngayon hindi para sila'y kumain sa amin kundi para masaksihan nila kung ano ang tunay na nangyayari sa Taal," said the restaurateur. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
