DMCI: We reached settlement with over 20% of Ecoland 4000 residents

Consunji-led DMCI affiliate, Urban Property Developers, Inc. (UPDI), announced Saturday that as of January 10, 2020, it has reached a settlement with over twenty percent of the residents of Ecoland 4000 Condominium.

The five-story Ecoland 4000 building was declared unsafe after it was hit and partially damaged by the magnitude-6.5 temblor that shook Mindanao in October 2019.

Shortly after the quake, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said that 15 to 20 units of the condo building had tenants.

"We have ongoing discussions with the rest of the unit owners to finally settle this matter," the UPDI wrote, in a press release.

"We would also like to assure President Rodrigo R. Duterte and our unit owners that we are fully committed to resolving this issue in a fair manner at the soonest possible time," the UPDI added.

The statement was issued after Duterte threatened to not grant a government permit to the DMCI on Friday.

"Unahin mo 'yung problema mo sa tao.’ Kay kung builder ka, Consunji ka man o hindi, 'pag naasar ako sa iyo, I will not grant you any permit to dig," Duterte said.

The DMCI also has a stake in water firm Maynilad, one of the two water concessionaires whose contracts were deemed as onerous by the government. —Angelica Y. Yang/LBG, GMA News
