Death toll from Davao Sur quake rises to 11; 111 injured — NDRRMC

The number of casualties due to the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that rocked Davao del Sur on Sunday has risen to 11 deaths and 111 injuries, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday.

In its 6 p.m. situational report, the NDRRMC said 10 deaths were recorded in Region XI while one was in Region XII.

The number of partially damaged schools has also climbed to 172 from the previously reported 128.

The NDRRMC said that as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, 826 aftershocks were recorded.

The 6.9-magnitude quake was the fourth powerful temblor to jolt Mindanao in two months, following earthquakes on October 16, (magnitude 6.3), October 29 (magnitude 6.6), and October 31 (magnitude 6.5). — BAP, GMA News
