2 construction workers in Baguio hurt after ‘landslide’
Two construction workers were hurt in Baguio City on Thursday after they were buried under mud when the foundation of a riprap was loosened by rains.
Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Baguio City chief of police Colonel Allen Rae Co said the incident happened along Camp 7 of Kennon Road.
“Bigla pong nag-loosen ‘yung pundasyon ng riprap na ginagawa nila,” he said. “Sort of a landslide [ng] materials sa taas, natabunan ‘yung dalawang construction workers.”
Neil John Fernandez, 25, and Glenn Fontanos were immediately extracted from the mud by authorities and rushed to the Baguio General Hospital.
Co said they are now in stable condition after sustaining injuries in the head, shoulders, and feet.
He also advised tourists traveling to Baguio to take Marcos Highway or Naguilian Road as the Kennon Road remains closed to the public. —Julia Mari Ornedo/MDM, GMA News
