Robbery charges filed vs. suspects in Cebu mall heist
Robbery charges were already filed against the suspects who had robbed jewelry stalls in a mall in Mandaue City, Cebu on Saturday.
Information from Police Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon, acting director of Central Visayas police, on Thursday said robbery charges have already been filed against 11 suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspects as Roel Suminguit, 35; Jun Batanguso Candelaria, 38;
Julivyn Quirante, 43; Arnel Cimafranca, 38; James Anthony Gamaya Gomez, 44; Jesie Macalisag; a certain Mark; a certain Ryan; a certain Tony Boy; one Ranger; and one Arjie.
Police earlier said the robbery incident was planned well by the suspects. Earlier reports said there were 15 armed men who robbed the stalls.
A security guard who had responded in the incident was wounded.
Meanwhile, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortez met with the owners of the mall to discuss security measures.
The estimated cost of stolen jewelry was P130 million. —KBK, GMA News
