Xavier Ateneo de Cagayan President chosen to lead ADMU
The Ateneo community has elected a new president of the Ateneo de Manila University, Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ.
Yap, the current president of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, will begin his term on the June 1, 2020.
The announcement was made through a memorandum penned by Father Yap and posted on the Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan Facebook account on August 6, 2019.
"I would like to inform the community that on 3rd August 2019, the ADMU Board of Trustees with the blessing of Father Provincial, elected me as the next president of the Ateneo de Manila University," Yap said.
"I accepted the election as my new Jesuit mission. always on mission, only for mission, Jesuits go where they are sent," he added.
Yap ends his term as Xavier Ateneo president on May 31, 2020 and begins his term as ADMU President on June 1, 2020 after the term of Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ is over.
"I would like to assure that the search for the next president of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan will commence shortly with the formation of a search committee during the 7th September 2019 meeting of the Xavier Ateneo Board of Trustees," he said, adding that the next president may be elected by Dec. 7, 2019.
Yap assured that the Centennial Strategic Plan for Xavier Ateneo will be completed by May 2020, as preparation is underway for the processes needed for a new campus project in Cagayan de Oro City with with the incoming president, board, and support of the President's Council. — BAP, GMA News
