KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL

August 16, 2019 declared non-working holiday in Davao City

Malacañang has declared August 16 a non-working holiday in Davao City in celebration of the popular Kadayawan Festival, according to a proclamation released on Thursday.

Proclamation 774 was signed on July 29 by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea following a request from the city’s Sangguniang Panlungsod.

"It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Davao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies," the proclamation stated.

President Rodrigo Duterte governed Davao City for more than two decades before he won the presidency in 2016.

The Palace also declared non-working holidays in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat (August 3, 68th founding anniversary of Tacurong) and Cabuyao City, Laguna (August 5, 7th cityhood anniversary). — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
