4 killed, 9 injured in Quezon vehicular accident

At least four people died and several others were injured when a passenger bus and a van collided on Maharlika Highway in Quezon province early Friday morning, according to a report on Unang Hirit.
Both the bus, P&O Transportation, and the van were badly damaged in the accident that occurred in Lopez, Quezon.
In a later report, the Lopez police said that the van with 14 passengers collided with the bus on a curved section of the highway in Lopez's Barangay Mal-Ay.
The town's police identified the fatalities as couple Reymundo and Maryjoy Claire Acebuche, their daughter Raquel, and the van's driver Amboy Carnate. One of the injured is Roselyn Acebuche, Claire's sister.
Police investigation showed that the P&O bus was heading for Tagkawayan, Quezon and the chartered van from Northern Samar was heading for Bataan.
Authorities said the van was a total wreck, and the fatalities, except the driver, were seated on the left side of the van. Those injured did not know how the tragedy struck, claiming they were all asleep when the accident took place.
Police said all the injured were rushed to the Magsaysay Memorial Hospital.
One of the survivors, Roselyn Acebuche, said the family chartered the van for a long trip to Bataan province in Central Luzon as the family had decided to move and live their.
