Flashflood hits Marilao, Bulacan
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bulacan said flashflood hit a barangay in Marilao after the water rose due to the continuous rains, Darlene Cay reported on Unang Balita on Thursday.
According to the PDRRMO, the flood in MacArthur Highway in Marilao rose from ankle-deep to leg-deep Thursday morning.
The flood was also due to the location of the area which is surrounded by mountains in nearby city San Jose del Monte. The rainwater from these mountains streamed down to MacArthur Highway.
Due to the flood, some motorists, especially those with light vehicles, had a hard time passing the highway.
At least eight flood-prone barangays in Marilao are under the monitoring of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) like barangays Ibayo and Abangan Sur.
The MDRRMO is closely monitoring the river in the area as high tide is expected later in the day. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
