NO PERMIT TO OPERATE

Baguio Mayor Magalong shuts down six establishments

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong led authorities in shutting down six establishments for not having the necessary permits to operate.

The establishments were four restaurants, one vape shop, and one sari-sari store, according to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Magalong said the six establishments did not have permits to operate.

The owners of the establishments were advised before to get the necessary permits but they have yet to comply.

Magalong himself put up the "Closed" signage in front of the said establishments and padlocked the doors.

"We've given you enough time to vacate so pasensiya na kayo but you have to vacate. We have to implement the law. Sana sumunod kayo. Otherwise, kung hindi kayo susunod, magkakaroon tayo ng malaking problema," the retired Philippine National Police official said.

One of the establishment owners, Kim Lewis Dapyaoen, expressed dismay at the closure, saying this would affect her workers.

"Kawawa 'yung tauhan namin na katulad ngayon, Ma'm, saan sila kukuha ng makakain nila? Eh 'yun lang ang inaasahan nila sa pang-araw-araw na gastusin," she said. —KG, GMA News
