First female Cotabato City police chief assumes post

The first female to become chief of police of Cotabato City has assumed her post on Tuesday.

According to a report on GMA News TV's News To Go on Tuesday, Police Colonel Portia Manalad was named to her post after her predecessor, Police Colonel Michael Lebanan, was declared persona on grata due to the city's increased crime rate.

Aside from being the first female to occupy such post, Manalad is also the first woman to graduate in Philippine National Police Academy back in 1995.

Manalad has vowed to improve the ties between the police force and the community and stay faithful to the police credo of serving and protecting the people. — Llanesca T. Panti/RSJ, GMA News
