Chavit Singson proclaimed Ilocos Sur mayor; brother, son win vice gov, gov posts


Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis "Chavit" Singson was proclaimed on Tuesday as the new mayor of Narvacan town in Ilocos Sur.

His victory ended the 30-year leadership of the Zaragozas in the said municipality.

Singson's son Ryan Luis, on the other hand, was proclaimed as the governor of Ilocos Sur after he garnered 289,309 votes.

His rival for the position, Zuriel Zaragoza had 61,663 votes, based on the Commission on Elections' transparency server.

Winning as the province's vice governor was Chavit's brother Jerry Singson.

Based on partial and unofficial results, two other members of the Singson clan in their respective races: Kristine Singson as representative of the Second District of Ilocos Sur, and Jimboy Singson as a member of the provincial council of Ilocos Sur's Second District. — MDM, GMA News
