Injuries in Chuzon Supermarket collapse climb to nine —PNP
From six, the number of people injured at the Chuzon Supermarket collapse in Porac, Pampanga following the Magnitude 6.1 earthquake in Luzon on Monday has climbed to nine, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced.
Authorities initially rescued six injured victims, but Police Lieutenant Colonel Fe Greñas, spokesperson of PNP-Region 3 on Thursday said in a Balitanghali interview that three more people were added to the list of injured individuals.
The victims sustained minor injuries and are already being treated in the hospital, Greñas added.
The death toll meanwhile remains at five.
Greñas said while there are no more "signs of life" in the collapsed supermarket, search and rescue personnel continue their operations amid the possibility that there might still be people under the rubble.
Greñas further said the search and rescue teams are ensuring there are no more victims in the area before the area is turned over to other agencies for clearing operations.
On Wednesday night, authorities said 14 people remain missing in the rubble. — Jamil Santos/MDM, GMA News
