6-year-old boy dies in earthquake-induced landslide in Zambales
A six-year-old boy died in a landslide at Mt. Bimmukel in San Marcelino, Zambales after the magnitude 6.1 earthquake in Luzon Monday.
According to a report by Emil Sumangil aired over “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the victim was identified as Warren Serrano.
The landslide was an aftermath of the magnitude 6.1 earthquake which hit Zambales province on Monday afternoon.
Arlene Serrano said her son, Warren, was in the mountain gathering charcoal when the landslide took place.
“Masakit po yung nangyari, wala na kaming nagawa. Hindi na namin maibabalik ang bata, na mabuhay pa....,” Arlene said.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) earlier announced that at least 120 families have been evacuated due to an earthquake-induced landslide in Mt. Bimmukel.
The NDRRMC reported that schools and government work in quake affected areas have been suspended to give way to rescue operations and to the inspection of infrastructures and buildings.
Likewise, the NDRRMC reminded the public to be vigilant.
“The public is advised to be aware of the aftershocks, stay calm, familiarize the evacuation plan in your area and keep posted on the latest and verified updates about earthquake information,” the NDRRMC said. —Llanesca Panti/LDF, GMA News
