Northern Luzon hit by power interruptions following quake
Power interruptions were experienced in several areas in Luzon, following the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Zambales.
In an advisory, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said power interruptions were experienced in Pangasinan, Pampanga, La Union, and Bataan.
The NGCP said provinces of Quezon, Batangas, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon were also affected, but have since been restored.
“As of 6 p.m., NGCP is still assessing the extent of the damage. Aerial and foot patrol will commence as soon as the situation is safe,” it said.
“NGCP is monitoring, 24/7, the status of transmission facilities in Luzon, following the earthquake which occurred today, April 22,” it elaborated.
This comes after a magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Zambales past 5 p.m. Monday, according to Phivolcs.
Intensity V was reported in San Felipe, Zambales; Malolos and Obando, Bulacan; Quezon City; Lipa, Batangas; Manila; Abucay, Bataan; Valenzuela City; and Magalang Pampanga.
The earthquake was also felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV - Pasig City; Makati City; Caloocan City; Meycauayan and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Floridablanca, Pampanga; Villasis, Pangasinan; Tagaytay City; Villasis, Pangasinan; Baguio City; Marikina City; Las Pinas City
Intensity III - Dasmarinas, Indang and Gen. Trias, Cavite; Lucban, Quezon; Muntinlupa City, Cabanatuan City; Palayan City; Gapan City; Santo Domingo and Talavera, Nueva Ecija
Intensity II - Baler, Aurora.
