Fire in Cabuyao, Laguna finally put under control after 6 hours

A fire that hit three warehouses in Cabuyao, Laguna on Saturday was finally put under control after six hours, according to a report by Jam Sisante-Cayco on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Sunday.

The fire started around 9 a.m. at a warehouse used to store rolls of paper and scrap material.

Residents living beside the warehouses were able to bring out their belongings as firetrucks arrived one after the other.

The management of Paper Mills Incorporated said the fire started among their scrap paper, maybe due to the hot temperature in the environment.

Strong winds fanned the flames, quickly spreading to the adjacent warehouses.

The fire reached the fourth alarm as it razed one warehouse, leaving only its frame standing.

Firemen were able to put the fire under control at 3:30 p.m. but they still trained their water hoses on the warehouses as smoke continued to rise.

No one was hurt in the fire, according to the Cabuyao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

The Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating the cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damage. —KG, GMA News
