Occidental Mindoro watchman murdered by motorcycle-riding gunmen


STA. CRUZ, Occidental Mindoro - A barangay tanod was shot dead by unidentified suspects Friday afternoon in Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.

An attending physician at the Sta. Cruz Community Hospital declared Romeo Navala Cahilo, 46, dead on arrival after being shot multiple times.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Socrates Faltado, chief of the Regional Public Information Office of the Philippine National Police's MIMAROPA office, said that Cahilo was on his way home on a tricycle at 5:30 p.m., accompanied by a colleague.

When they arrived at Sitio Cuarenta, Barangay Dayap,  motorcycle-riding gunmen drove up on the tricycle and shot Cahilo.

Sta. Cruz police investigators are now looking into the murder. — DVM, GMA News
