Sariaya mayor's son laid to rest, family seeks justice
Thousands joined the burial of Christian Gayeta on Thursday, as his family continued to cry for justice .
Gayeta, 21, son of Sariaya, Quezon mayor Marcelo Gayeta, and his companion Cristopher Manalo were killed in an alleged shootout with police officers who responded to reports of indiscriminate firing at a gasoline station in Barangay Baguio, Tayabas on March 14.
Tayabas police chief Superintendent Mark Joseph Laygo and several other police officers were relieved from their posts over the incident.
Laygo has yet to report for work since receiving the suspension order.
Mayor Gayeta appealed to the director of the police regional office, Chief Superintendent Edward Carranza, to ask Laygo to show up and subject himself to investigation.
He also asked for the help of Philippine National Police chief General Oscar Albayalde in solving the case and giving justice to his son's death.
The family will file a case before the Department of Justice.
Former Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre and Tayabas City Mayor Arnida Reynoso also attended the burial. —LDF, GMA News
