PNP, Comelec take down illegal campaign posters in Ilocos Sur
Personnel from the Philippine National Police and the Commission on Elections took down several campaign posters in Santa, Ilocos Sur for violating guidelines on the posting of such materials, according to a report on GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Sunday.
Most of the campaign posters that were pulled down violated rules on proper sizes and the common poster areas, some being plastered on posts.
The taking down of illegal campaign posters will continue, the poll body said, especially that the official campaign season for national candidates has already entered its 5th day.
According to the Comelec, the crackdown on illegal campaign posters—oversized and posted outside designated common poster areas—began last Thursday.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said they will deploy two teams that will go around the northern and southern parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces to document possible violations of rules on campaigning. —Erwin Colcol/LBG/KG, GMA News
