Fake gold bars being sold in Davao City

The Davao City police has urged the public to be on the lookout for syndicates selling fake gold bars worth up to P400,000 each.

According to a report by RTV-One Mindanao's Real Sorroche on Thursday, the suspects have victimized a buyer in the Marilog district who made an initial payment of P70,000 for a gold bar .

The victim, who was from Camiguin, realized too late that he had been scammed.

Authorities suspect that the syndicates could be working with a man named Samuel Nogan who was arrested last January 24 for selling gold bars.

Marilog police urged the public to come forward with any information on the counterfeit sellers.

—Margaret Claire Layug/ LDF, GMA News
