Cold weather brings frost, affects some crops in Benguet

Some vegetable crops in Atok, Benguet have been affected by frost, called by the locals as "andap."

The report by Lei Alviz on GMA's 24 Oras on Tuesday showed that a thin layer of ice covered the cultivated plants in Barangay Paoay.

This is a phenomenon, residents said, they experience every year.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Cordillera Administrative Region said the frost has not yet affected the prices of produce in Benguet.

Prices of vegetables in the province remain low because of oversupply.

Thick fog also covered the town of Paracelis, Mountain Province at daybreak on Tuesday.

Baguio City, on the other hand, recorded its lowest temperature for the Amihan season this year at 12 degrees celsius.

The same cold temperature was recorded at the Summer Capital of the Philippines last December 10. — Dona Magsino/BAP, GMA News
