2 NPA fighters killed in military ops


Two alleged New People’s Army members were killed in a military operation in the mountainous boundary of Bukidnon and Agusan del Sur before noon Monday, the military said.

Initial reporters showed around 11:25 a.m.,  Army troopers under 8th Infantry Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonet Ronald Illana attacked the camp of the communist group’s sub-regional committee 2, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

A firefight ensued, resulting in the death of the two still unidentified people. Two M14 rifles were also recovered.

The military said that the troops are currently pursuing the alleged NPA members, who scampered after their camp was overrun.

Colonel Edgardo De Leon, 403rd Brigade commander, congratulated his men while Major General Ronald Villanueva, 4th Infantry Division commander and acting commander of Eastern Mindanao Command, reiterated his call for NPA members to surrender or face military operations. — Amita Legaspi/BM, GMA News
