Bulan town in Sorsogon declared under state of calamity —officials


Sorsogon province's Bulan town has been declared under a state of calamity due to floods and landslides caused by cyclone Usman.

Local officials reported 10 barangays of the town have been hit hardest by widespread flooding and pockets of landslides amid heavy rains.

The Bulan municipal council has declared the whole town under a state of calamity.

Two people have been reported killed, one was  due to a landslide, and another one was due to hypothermia.

Barangays that were severely affected by flooding and landslides include:

  • Sta. Remedios - Flood
  • Inararan - Spillway collapse
  • Aquino - Flood
  • Taromata - Landslide (flood)
  • Managa-naga - Flood (1 casualty) (displace person 4 families)
  • Obrero - Flood
  • Otavi - Flood
  • Sagrada - Flood with evacuees
  • Quezon - Flood
  • Calpi - Landslide
  • Somagongsong - 1 family
  • San Rafael - Flood
  • E. Quirino - Landlside
  • Liman - Landslide
  • Calomagon - Landslide
  • Palale - Landslide

Over 2,000 residents have remained in evacuation centers.

Floods have started to subside as the weather began to improve on Sunday, local officials said. —LBG, GMA News
