Daraga mayor denies hand in Batocabe slay

Though he was not considered a suspect, Daraga Mayor Carlwyn Baldo is denying any involvement in the killing of Ako Bicol party-list Representative Rodel Batocabe.

According to a Balitanghali report on Friday, Baldo cried foul over his name being dragged into the issue, saying his family is already being affected by it.

Batocabe was shot dead in broad daylight last Saturday along with his police security escort. He was set to challenge Baldo for the mayoral post in Daraga in the 2019 elections.

Baldo urged the public to just wait for the results of the police's investigation.

"Mabigat sa kalooban ko na wala pang lumalabas na opisyal na imbestigasyon, ambilis na mag-conclude sa akin," Baldo said.

"Sabi ko nga, yung pag-[seek] niyo ng justice, huwag naman mag-cause ng injustice sa mga inosente."

Without mentioning any names, President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier linked a mayor to Batocabe's killing. —Jessica Bartolome/KBK, GMA News
