Fire hits Antipolo City jail


A fire struck the Antipolo City Jail at Barangay San Jose on Thursday night, but was put out after close to an hour, according to Rod Vega's report on Super Radyo dzBB.

The fire started at 8:01 p.m. and reached second alarm before being declared out at around 9 p.m., Chief Inspector Orlando Antonio, fire marshal of Antipolo City, said.

Bureau of Jail Management and Penology spokesman Chief Inspector Xavier Solda said they are currently doing an accounting of the inmates to make sure that no one  has escaped.

Several of the inmates were brought to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.

Arson investigators are looking into the incident.
