Meralco poles in the middle of Bulacan road taken down
Electric utility poles that ended up in the middle of the road after a road-widening project in Pulilan, Bulacan in 2016 have been taken down.
According to a report by GMA News' Marisol Abduraman on “24 Oras”, the posts in Barangay Balatong were left untouched during the road-widening project and ended up as obstructions—dangerous ones, particularly as night, as the road was not lighted.
A video of the posts' peculiar position, clearly in the way of traffic flow, recently went viral.
“Ang dati pong kalsada, ire lang po, guhit hanggang dito. Nilawakan patubig natin kaya po yung poste napasok sa kalsada. Hindi nila inalis eh,” Barangay Captain Edgardo Hipolito said in the report.
New poles are already in place to replace these obstructive poles, but Meralco has not yet transferred the power lines.
By noon of the same day, the poles in the middle of the road had been removed by Meralco.
Company foreman Arnel Jimenez said that it took them a while to fix the problem due to the series of typhoons and the sheer number of poles that needed fixing. — Llanesca T. Panti/BM, GMA News
