Roads to Natonin, Mt. Province also affected by landslides; rescue ops hampered

Rescue operations in landslide-hit Natonin, Mountain Province have been hampered as debris from other landslides block the roads en route to site of Tuesday's disaster.

In Raffy Tima's report on GMA's 24 Oras on Wednesday, the news crew encountered around 30 landslide-hit areas as they tried to reach the location where three buildings of the Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and four other structures were buried.

The situation made it harder for additional responders carrying supplies and heavy equipment to reach the town of Natonin.

The DPWH has been conducting clearing operations on the roads, but these are expected to be completed on Thursday morning.

Some passengers, including children, were also forced to walk since 3 p.m. as some roads were already not passable for vehicles.

As of Wednesday evening, the number of bodies recovered from the landslide site in Natonin is eight. — Dona Magsino/BM, GMA News
