Slain Sudipen mayor, driver laid to rest in La Union
Slain Sudipen, La Union Mayor Alexander Buquing has been laid to rest on Saturday, according to a News TV Live report.
The report said many supporters showed up at the funeral procession and called for justice for the mayor's killing.
The mayor was also honored with a 21 gun salute.
Present at the interment was Buquing's widow, Wendy, previously vice mayor before succeeding her husband's post.
The family refused to grant media interviews.
Buried at the same time as the slain mayor was his driver Boni Depdepen, who also got killed in the ambush.
A third victim, PO2 Rolando Juanbe, was also killed after the pick-up truck they were riding was strafed by still unidentified assailants in the municipality of Bangar on October 1.
Wendy was hurt in the shooting incident. — MDM, GMA News
