Typhoon Ompong leaves trail of damage in Tuguegarao City
The province of Cagayan, where Ompong made landfall on Saturday morning, is one of the areas heaviest hit by the typhoon's wrath as it swept through the north of Luzon.
Photos taken by YouScooper Lester Joseph Ballad show the damage it left behind as it makes its way out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The strong winds and heavy rains brought by Ompong caused damage to roofs, scaffolding, and cars, and caused electric posts and signages to collapse.
Malls and banks were not spared from damage, as the onslaught took chunks out of them.
A gas station can be seen completely damaged and the glass walls of the Toyota branch in the city have been shattered.
In its latest advisory, PAGASA said Ompong maintained its strength as it traverses in a west northwestward direction west of Laoag City.
It is expected to leave PAR at past 8 p.m. -NB, GMA News
