4 people killed in latest Atimonan town road incident

Four people were killed in a road incident in the town of Atimonan in Quezon province before dawn Saturday.

Super Radyo dzBB reported that all four people on a 10-wheeler delivery van that fell into a ravine and caught fire in Atimoman at past 3 a.m. were killed.

The fatalities include two drivers and two helpers, GMA News stringer Peewee Bacuño told dzBB in a report update.

An earlier report on dzBB said only one in the van was killed and three others were hurt, but were still trapped in the burning truck.

But Bacuño said rescuers had difficulty in pulling out the victims from the van, in the rescue operation that lasted for hours.

Later, the bodies of the victims were extricated from the burnt van.

Since March this year, six deadly road accidents have been recorded in Atimonan and the death toll has risen to eight, including the four men in this Saturday's incident.  —LBG, GMA News
