NPA camp in Cordillera seized by Philippine Army


Troops from the Philippine Army seized a camp of the New People's Army in Besao, Mountain Province on Monday.

The Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in a press release dated Saturday said the camp was found by the 81st Infantry Battalion under Joint Task Force "Kaugnay" on Monday morning.

Troops recovered a nipa hut, blasting caps, and gauze pads in the camp believed to have been used by the rebels as a clinic.

Encounter

Meanwhile, Nolcom Army forces also had an encounter with suspected NPA rebels in Abra on Wednesday.

The incident happened in the mountains of Barangay Tabacda, Tubo, Abra.

There were an undetermined casualties on the NPA side under Komiteng Larangyang Gerilya "AMPIS".

Government troops from the 71st Division Reconnaissance Company and 73rd Division Reconnaissance Company, both under Joint Task Force "Kaugnay" meanwhile, had no casulties in the firefight which lasted for 15 minutes. —KG, GMA News
