Strong waves sweep, destroy coastal houses in Cavite
Some residents living along coastal areas in Tanza, Cavite were left homeless in an instant after strong winds and heavy rains spawned big waves, washing away and destroying their houses.
In a report on News To Go on Wednesday, a video from YouScooper Madelle Abellera showed that almost nothing were left in the shores of Barangay Capipisa while elsewhere, other homes that survived the battering waves were severely damaged.
Residents have built barriers to prevent waves from further destroying nearby houses.
Abellera said the situation has been ongoing for a week, and affected residents have been appealing for help.
Fishermen in fishing villages in Tanza have not been able to fish due to bad weather and rough seas, the report said.
This week, monsoon rains have been enhanced by Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (Henry) and by a low-pressure area (LPA), which turned into Tropical Depression Inday this Wednesday. —Jamil Santos/LBG, GMA News
