Halili shot from 200 meters away in grassy knoll cleared for kill —PNP

A clearing in the otherwise dense vegetation outside the Tanauan City Hall has been tagged as the possible area from where Mayor Antonio Halili was shot and killed.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras", Halili was shot by a gunman from the elevated portion 200 meters from where he was standing during the flag ceremony on Monday.

"Nakadapa ang gunman. Merong clearing sa masukal na bahagi ng northwest portion ng city hall," said Chief Superintendent Edward Caranza, the PNP regional director in Southern Tagalog.

"'Yan po ay masukal. Dapat po pantay. May mga clearing at pinagdapaan, may butas. Kasya lang ang baril na isinuksok at puwede po siya sumilip," he added.

A source told GMA News that an empty shell was recovered from the area where the killer was suspected of shooting halili.

"Maraming motibo diyan but we'll have to get the statement of the family, his security, the blotters in the police station," Caranza said. —NB, GMA News
