Maasin, Leyte residents hospitalized after drinking contaminated water

Some residents in Maasin City, Leyte were rushed to the hospital supposedly due to drinking contaminated water.

According to a Balitanghali report by Jam Sisante-Cayco on Sunday, residents noticed last Friday that the water from their faucets smelled like gas.

Mayor Nacional Mercado claimed that someone broke into the main source of the Maasin City Water District.

Its management has already conducted decontamination and flushing procedure at the water source.

Residents are also advised not to use the water pending investigation of the incident.

"Please be advised that an untoward incident took place last night at our MWD main source in Canlited Barangay San Jose, wherein security of the premises have been breached resulting in contamination of our water," Mercado said. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KG, GMA News
