Six families from the barangay, about 15 people mostly women and children, were rescued in the operation that began at about 5 a.m.

Flash floods hit low-lying barangays in Sultan Mastura, the ARMM HEART said.

Earlier, state weather bureau PAGASA said that some parts of the Mindanao will experience thunderstorms and moderate to heavy rain showers as the low-pressure area east of Surigao del Sur draws near, threatening to intensify into a tropical depression in the next 24 to 48 hours. —with Ferdinandh Cabrera/LBG, GMA News
