Two members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters have been killed and two others wounded in a series of "focused military operations" against the rebel group in Maguindanao since Monday.
Captain Arvin Encinas, spokesman for the 6th Infantry Division, said Wednesday that the identities of the casualties are still being verified.
Also, he said that troops from the Second Mechanized Infantry Battalion have seized assorted high-powered and regular firearms during the two-day operations that started on April 9.
The target of the operations were BIFF members under the Bungos faction operating in Barangays Pamalian and Pagatin in the municipality of Saydona Mustapha.
Particularly, BIFF rebels suffered heavy setback in Monday's 3-hour clash that also slightly hurt two government troops.
On April 10, government troops recovered 20 assorted firearms, including high-powered ones, and destroyed two gun manufacturing machines and the Abu Nasria lair.
On the other hand, Joint Task Force Central (JTFC) commander Major General Arnel dela Vega said that pursuit operations against terror groups, including the BIFF, will continue. —LBG, GMA News
