Antipolo gov’t ready for ‘Alay Lakad,’ urges devotees to observe cleanliness

The local government of Antipolo has assured the public that they are prepared for the observance of Holy Week, especially for the annual Alay Lakad on Maundy Thursday, March 29.

They are expecting that the number of devotees who will join the traditional penitential walk will double this year. In 2017, the number of people who participated reached 3 to 5 million.

Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares said in order to ensure that the observance of Holy Week in the city will be orderly and peaceful, local officials will establish a command center, public and medical assistance booth, and police assistance desk.

He also called on residents and tourists to observe cleanliness as they observe their Lenten activities.

Traffic advisories will also be provided in order to guide motorists. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
