Baguio imposes stricter environmental code on buildings
The local government of Baguio City has issued a stricter environmental code to ensure the city's protection and preservation amid the rise in the construction of hotels and commercial establishments in the area.
According to a News To Go report on Wednesday, it was noted in the new policy that buildings should have their own parking areas, proper garbage disposal system and rain harvesting system.
Owners of the establishments must also follow the policy on green architecture where trees and other plants should be planted near their buildings.
Old buildings are given until next year to follow the new policy.
Meanwhile, tourists are expected to flock in the City of Pines this Holy Week. Authorities estimated that the number of vacationers will reach 800,000. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
