More than 230,000 vehicles expected to use NLEX during Holy Week
With many Filipinos heading to their home provinces in keeping with Holy Week tradition, more than 230,000 vehicles are expected to travel on Wednesday this week using the North Luzon Expressway, according to a report on Unang Balita by Victoria Tulad on Monday.
From Sunday to Monday, traffic was still normal on NLEX, traffic supervisor Rodney Sevilla said.

However, the bulk of vehicles is expected on NLEX starting Wednesday, at the end of the working day, up to early Thursday. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday were declared as regular holidays, while Black Saturday is a special non-working holiday.
Traffic on NLEX is also expected to be heavy on Easter Sunday as those who went on vacation in provinces will travel back to Metro Manila in time for work on Monday.
The usual chokepoints on NLEX are Balintawak Tollgate, Tipo Tollgate in Subic, and Tarlac Tollgate.
To address this, management will have additional tellers assigned at the Balintawak and Mindanao Tollgates from Holy Wednesday to Maundy Thursday.
During the past Holy Week, the peak time at NLEX had 230,000 vehicles on it. The usual volume of vehicles on NLEX is at 200,000 vehicles.
NLEX management advised motorists to drive safely and remember BLOWBAGETS—check brakes, lights, oil, water, battery, air, gas, engine, tires, and self. —KG, GMA News
